Dear Marc,
You are definitely a storyteller Extraordinaire! The students at Tekoppel School were enthralled with your storytelling ability. It is delightful to have a professional performer who entertains an audience as well as motivates them to utilize the writing process. They especially liked the story about the skeleton.
The teachers have been able to use the points you made about how to gather ideas for stories you want to write. Thanks for inspiring our students to strive to tell and write more interesting stories that have a beginning, middle, and end.
Thanks for sharing your talent with our children.
Sincerely,
Sandra Altheide
Dear Marc:
You are indeed a "storyteller Extraordinaire!" The entire student body at J.W. York Elementary, as well as the teaching staff, thoroughly enjoyed your dramatic performance and originality. Your presentation inspired the students to explore their surroundings and discover the many existing "characters" ready to assume a role in their own creative stories. What a great approach for children to learn the importance of a more active role than a passive one in the presentation of entertainment - look within.
Thank you, Marc, for bringing your program and your style (especially performing in your red socks) to our school!
Most Sincerely,
Lee Colhoun
Cultural Arts Chair
Dear Marc:
Thank you so much for your energetic performances at our school last week. The children were enthralled with your imaginative stories. My own children are still talking about "Homer" and "Gilbert Glump". You had quite an impact on all of the children.
The simplicity of your program is what impressed me the most. To be able to hold the children's attention for an hour without any props is an incredible feat!
Your thoughts for places to get story ideas were great. Our teachers
will be able to put your story "elements" to good use on all grade levels.
You are an inspiration to all future story writers - both young and old!
Sincerely,
Mary Rodger
Cultural Arts Chairperson
Dear Marc,
We want to thank you for coming to our school on December 9th to present "Storyteller Extraordinaire." It was great the way you reviewed and reinforced concepts taught in the classroom as you shared your stories. You allowed the children to see that reading connects one to the world.
I received numerous comments from the teachers stating what a talented and gifted artist you are. They stated how engaging, entertaining and humorous you are as you allowed the students to think about ideas for their own stories. Students loved the way the stories came alive and your debate of the old woman was an absolute favorite.
As you shared stories that kept popping up in different cultures you
clearly exemplified a person who enjoys reading and values the importance
of reading. It was a joy having you perform at our school and we
would welcome the opportunity to have you perform again.
Sincerely,
Wendeline J. Borowski
Dear Mr. Marc Speigel,
On behalf of my fellow faculty members, our administration and all of the students, I would like to thank you so much for coming to our school and entertaining us with your wonderful stories.
Adults as well as children were held spellbound with some stories and could not control laughter with others, especially the group stories where we all got to be a part of the tale.
Being in your audience, watching the children and parents, I felt
the power of your expertise as a storyteller and advocate for young and
aging children. Thank you for coming to our school and I know, I
for one hope to see you again in the near future. Your story Fo-Fo-Th-Bo
still tickles my funny bone. Yet, the message in the story, is a message
for all peoples in all countries and fragile situations.
Sincerely yours,
Sharon Scholz
Dear Marc:
Thanks so much for two delightful performances. Your stories were great and I especially enjoyed the way you involved the entire audience -- not just the children. I hope you will put us on your calendar for next year, September 26th & 27th.
Many thanks for being part of Baltimore Book Festival II.
Sincerely,
Carole Simon

Dear Mr. Spiegel:
On behalf of the students, staff and PTA at North Glen Elementary School, I would like to thank you for your performance at our school on April 17, 1998.
Not only are you personable and entertaining, but you were able to hold the attention of the students from kindergarten to sixth grade. The children were thoroughly entertained and I heard nothing but wonderful comments from the children and staff, including my own two sons, about your performance.
Again, on behalf of the North Glen PTA, we thank you for a wonderful performance and we wish you much continued success.
Sincerely,
Pat Fink
